Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

TabCut is built to keep your data private. Your split history stays on your device and in your personal iCloud. We collect only minimal anonymous usage statistics to help improve the app — no personal information, ever.

Data stored on your device and iCloud

All split data — venues, items, people, amounts, and history — is stored on your device using SwiftData and synced privately through your personal iCloud account via CloudKit. This data is never accessible to Newton Labs or any third party.

App settings (theme, payment handles, tip defaults) sync across your devices via iCloud Key-Value Store. These values remain in your personal iCloud account.

Anonymous analytics

TabCut collects anonymous usage statistics to understand how the app is used and where to focus improvements. Specifically:

This data is sent to Supabase, a third-party analytics backend, and is automatically deleted after 180 days. Newton Labs does not sell or share this data with any other parties.

What we do not collect

In-app purchases

TabCut offers a one-time purchase to unlock unlimited splits (TabCut Pro). All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. Newton Labs never receives, stores, or processes any payment information or personal details associated with a purchase.

Payment handles (Venmo, PayPal, Cash App)

If you enter your Venmo, PayPal, or Cash App handle in Settings, this information is stored only on your device and in your personal iCloud Key-Value Store. It is never transmitted to Newton Labs or any third party.

Contacts access

TabCut may request access to your Contacts to help you quickly add people to a split by name. Contact data is read on-device only and is never stored, transmitted, or shared. You can revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts → TabCut.

Camera access

TabCut requests camera access to scan receipts. Photos are processed on-device using Apple's Vision framework and are never uploaded or stored beyond the current scanning session.

Children's privacy

TabCut does not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13. The anonymous analytics described above contain no personal information for any user regardless of age.
