What data Cadence accesses
Cadence reads step count, walking and running distance, and flights climbed from Apple Health on your device. This data is used solely to display your activity within the app.
Cadence never writes to Apple Health and never modifies your Health data in any way.
Where your data lives
All health data and activity history is stored in two places:
- On your device — in the app's private document storage, accessible only to Cadence.
- In your private iCloud — if you are signed into iCloud, Cadence uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your history and settings across your own devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is never accessible to Newton Labs or any third party.
Data we do not collect
Newton Labs does not operate any servers, does not collect analytics, and does not receive any personal data from Cadence. Specifically:
- No names, email addresses, or account information
- No location data
- No health or fitness data
- No usage analytics or crash reporting sent to us
- No advertising identifiers
Tip jar purchases
Cadence offers an optional tip jar through Apple's in-app purchase system (StoreKit). All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. Newton Labs never receives, stores, or processes any payment information or personal details associated with a purchase.
Apple Health permissions
Cadence requests read-only access to Steps, Walking + Running Distance, and Flights Climbed in Apple Health. You can review and revoke these permissions at any time in:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Cadence
Children's privacy
Cadence does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. As noted above, the app does not collect personal data from any user regardless of age.
